Mahjong Sengoku Jidai (loosely translated to "Warring States Period Mahjong") is a riichi mahjong game developed by Sanritsu and published by Sega for the Sega Mark III in Japan on October 18, 1987.
The sole mahjong adaptation for the system (although the system is backwards compatible with the Sega SG-1000's three mahjong games), Mahjong Sengoku Jidai includes both two-player and four-player variants of Japanese mahjong, each with a variety of rule settings and a variety of comical opponents. In addition, the game includes a simple tournament mode using the two-player variant.
It is seen as a reworked home version of, or successor to, Sanritsu's earlier arcade eroge Mahjong Kyoujidai, with all erotic elements removed. Despite the name, there does not seem to be any reference to the Sengoku Jidai (the Japanese "Warring States Period"). The game later received an eroge successor for Japanese computers, known as Mahjong Kyoujidai Special.
The game includes three difficulty levels and a variety of rule options (all of which are enabled by default):
