Overview

Kamaitachi no Yoru 2: Kangokujima no Warabe Uta (かまいたちの夜2 監獄島のわらべ唄), which translates to "The Night of the Sickle Weasel 2: Warabe Uta of Prison Island," is the fourth sound novel produced by Chunsoft and the direct sequel to Kamaitachi no Yoru. Takemaru Abiko returns to supervise the script for the sequel and Yohei Taneda, a famous production designer who has worked on films such as Kill Bill, served as the game's art director. The game was initially released for the PlayStation 2 in Japan on July 18, 2002 and Sega later published a port for the PlayStation Portable in 2006.

Story

Toru and Mari are once again the protagonists of Kamaitachi no Yoru 2, however they are not the same people that appeared in the first game. In the world of the sequel, Kamaitachi no Yoru was a video game that was written by Takemaru Abiko, who shares the same name as the real-world author of the game. Abiko based the game's story loosely on Toru and Mari's experience of being trapped in a snow lodge several years ago with other guests. After the game's blockbuster success, Abiko invites Toru, Mari, and the other guests to celebrate at his island villa. However, once they arrive, the group finds themselves trapped on the island as they begin to be killed off one by one.
