Another mobile game spinoff with lootboxes that will inevitably be shut down within a year once Square Enix realizes that the game won't print them a zillion dollars instantly and they have to spend on server upkeep when Yosuke Matsuda would rather just keep fucking around with NFT and blockchain bullshit than make or support any actual games.
Ever Crisis has attached Shoichi Ichikawa as producer, Kazushige Nojima as scenario writer, Yoshinori Kitase as executive producer, Tetsuya Nomura acting as creative director, and Lisa Fujise as the main character artist.
The game will be released in monthly episodic installments that will reimagine the entire timeline of the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII. This will include events and characters from the movie Advent Children (sequel movie to the original FFVII), Before Crisis (a mobile game lost forever because no one wanted to release it on a platform that would actually survive offline, let alone outside Japan), Crisis Core (prequel to the original FFVII story with Zack as the main character), Dirge of Cerberus (sequel/spinoff with Vincent as the main character), The First SOLDIER (an online-only battle royale spinoff prequel that will be dead by the time you read this), and other characters' backstories within the franchise that only had a short appearance.
The graphics are expected to be a twist on the "chibi" style, though technical constraints forced the development team to use 2D artwork for the character portraits instead of animated 3D art.
