Overview
Dragon Quest Treasures is an action role-playing game (RPG) with two protagonists. The game follows Mia and Erik in their desire to discover tons of treasure. The start of the game finds the two on a viking boat, before the pair sneak out to try and find treasure. This adventure leads them to a new land, where the pair are briefly separated.
On the way, several other characters can be added to a party, including a smile called Oozabella and a pirate cat. Enemies appear in the world and can be attacked directly, either by melee weapons or with a slingshot that shoots pellets of various kinds. Pellets can both harm opponents as well as buff allies. These projectiles have to be aimed, but a lock-on system allows players to toggle between targets. The 3D cartoonish environments will also frequently hide treasure that can either be found directly or needs to be dug out.
Demo
Square Enix released a short demo for Dragon Quest Treasures on the Nintendo Switch eShop on Friday the 13th, in January of 2023. The demo plays the intro to the game, up to the point that the two protagonists discover their means of transportation. Those who play the demo can transfer their progress upon buying the game. Additionally, finishing the demo will yield Better Buddy Pellets as a bonus in the full game. These pellets make it easier to recruit monsters into the party.
