Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony is the third mainline entry in the Danganronpa franchise developed by Spike Chunsoft and was released in Japan on January 12th, 2017 for the PlayStation 4 as well as PlayStation Vita. NIS America later published both versions of Danganronpa V3 in North America, along with a region exclusive PC port, on September 26, 2017.
Although Danganronpa V3 contains the number "3" in its title, the game does not continue the story from Danganronpa 1 and 2. The game instead features a completely new setting and cast of characters, the protagonists of which is a teenage girl named Kaede Akamatsu.
The third Danganronpa title was first teased with the announcement of Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls at Tokyo Game Show 2013 and later confirmed to be in development by the series writer Kodaka Kazutaka in March 2015. The game was officially revealed at Sony's Tokyo Game Show presentation on September 14, 2015 under the title "New Danganronpa V3" and is the first game in the series to be released on a home console.
